What do you think about a result of a survey in your organization regarding motivation of your employees? You may think you give many kind of benefits for them, so there is no reason for them to get de-motivate. But if you do such research you will be surprised. Because sometimes the people, you think that highly motivated will be the worst people.

That is psychology. People are different. They are having different ideas, attitudes perceptions and believes. Therefore its not like working with machines. A machine will provide same results under same conditions, but not people.

In our normal life we meet many people who is having different attitudes and believes. Have you ever tried to make a change of some one’s belief which is so attached with that person’s life? Actually that is a very difficult task. Because people are tend to build their whole
life according to the very strong beliefs they have. In that case changing that kind of belief is something like reborning that person.

“The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.”
William James

In organizations, it is very important to know about the employee’s mind. Because it is directly connected with employee’s motivation, performance, contribution, commitment. As I mentioned earlier people have different perceptions. Therefore their expectations also different. For example, if an employee is believing that giving medical insurance is highly benefit(according to his or her perception) then he or she will have an expectation of having that kind of benefit. Then by providing that kind of benefit will leads to motivate that employee. But at the same time the employee who doesn’t have a valuation will be de-motivated because he or she may have different perspectives.

Sometimes there are issues occurring with the employee association. Because different people have different attitudes. The attitude of an individual can be affect to the whole organization. Specially that can be a reason for turn over. Here psychology is playing a major role to identify people minds and make positive responses according to that.

I love this world. Sometimes when I’m traveling I try to look this world in very open mind and think about people. And I imagine how much innocent these people and I wish all people would be happy and healthy for their whole lifetime. Simply I just imagine a day that whole the world become happy and not even a small animal suffering from any thing. Actually the feeling I acquire by doing such activity is wonderful and my mind get more relax and happy and its like a maithree mediation. But I think about one more thing which is not defined in the mithree meditaton. That is about the nature and I do the same wish for the nature as well.

I love nature more than people. Because I feel nature is more innocent than people and I believe it is a part of me. Today people are choosing a path to go with methods of containment, manipulations, modifications, and dominations with modern high-end technologies and totally disconnected from nature. And the important question to be asked is do they know exactly where they are going? As a human being I asked that question several times from me and still I couldn’t find a answer. I know how much I’m disconnected from nature and sometimes I hate my job which I have to do in a air condition environment and whole the day computing in front of a computer. Because I want to be with people, natural air, trees, flowers, breeze, rain, sunshine, animals and I don’t want to live in a artificial world. In past days people were more attached with nature and they identified that living is like a wonderful and pleasant business with nature with mutual understanding and respect. As I believe today also people are doing businesses with nature but without having understanding and respect. In any kind of activity they tend to think only about what they can take. But they forget that they are trying to ignore a part of their life.

So I propose to whole people in this world to practice the blessings for nature as a meditation and try understand the feelings of nature and give even a small consideration for that. That will protect you in your whole life.

Today I watched a great video in TED talks from Srikumar Rao about the ‘Plug in to your hard-wired happiness.’ I feel like he is talking the whole truth of this life. Actually in our life we are always seeking happiness because we feel we are not happy. Every day every time in every event we are seeking it and we are expecting it. But as Roa says the happiness is hard-wired with us not with any outside person or activity. But we don’t know that because we are just packed with if-then model. As Roa says the if-then model is like we are always thinking if this happens I will be happy. For example if I become a multi milliner then I will be happy, if I win the race I will be happy, if I pass the exam I will be happy like that.
So the Roa says that we are mostly investing in the outcome which is beyond our control rather than investing in process. So it’s good to make our happiness depend on a thing which is under our control that is investing in process. Then if you achieve the outcome you will be happy and even you don’t achieve it still you are happy. Roa is giving a good example like this. When we are going to the nature we are happy. For example by looking at a rainbow we feel happy. But we don’t feel like if the rainbow will rise in south region then I will be happy. Because we know it’s beyond our control and we accept the nature for a while and happy.

Today most of the organizations are seeking for ways to put a mark in the industry they are engaging on. That is the process of searching competitive advantage. Most of the cases they only focus on core business activities like marketing, product inventions, newer technologies etc. But did they think even for a while that they can have a competitive advantage over their valuable people even without going for a big investment? Actually that is a one question that we can ask from many companies which are categorized as not successful.

Because I do believe human resource is the main resource and secret of any successful company.

Having good industrial relations is the most important thing to motivate people and retain them for long time. Most of the company’s management has fear about trade unions due to the past actions of trade unions in some companies. But good leadership can solve any matter with carefully looking at the actual reasons for dissatisfactions. Most important thing is fair treatment for employees and makes them feel like company is available to care and safe them at any time. If the company is treating employees in that way, no matter what hard time occurs the people will survive. That is the truth.

But why the organizations are very rarely concerning about those things?

It is another important question that should be considered. As I think it is because they are seeking quick ways to achieve success. For example assume that the company got a very big project which will make big profit for the company. Then management feels that they need to do it in a best way and also in a small time. If some task required to do in a best way and also within a small period of time that means that task required lot of human effort. So in that situation, company is not going to concern about their people, their health and safty, relationships or anything rather than hurry to make big money. Sometimes they may push the people and tend to get things done somehow which will increase the stress. So what will happen next? They may get things done as they want and also the big profit. But what will happen if they are going to have another same kind of project? Are those employees are willing to do that? Or else will they leave the company as soon as possible or take some actions? Ofcourse they are not willing to work like that and they may take some actions. So that is the result of the journey of making big money in a quick way. Therefore in each step of achieving goals, the organization has to make sure their people are highly considered and recognized every time and everywhere when it is needed.

Up to now I was working with Wordpress as a content management system to many of my projects and I thought it is time to have a look for another content management system like Drupal which is more advanced as I believe.

Yesterday I had great experience on Drupal. I watched all the tutorials about drupal theming guidelines of Tom Rogers. Actually those tutorials are really helpful and I recommend it to any person who is a beginner of Drupal. And also I found a interesting book named ‘Drupal Development’ by John K VanDyk and Matt Westgate which has a very good overview of building drupal thems. Ofcource the drupal theme developer’s guide is another fantastic tutorial to follow.

Finally I developed a theme with the help of above resources and now I’m willing to go further on Drupal and play with it some more.
